The site is really growing. We now have 55 members. There were 1,186 visits and 6,048 page views. I'm sure that they weren't all from me. As the site grows we will continue to look for more features that our members find useful. We now have a section for members to review restaurants and golf courses. This month we will add a fun section that will have games and more. We hope that our site will continue to grow as well as it has.

Social Networking is nothing new. This concept is how most people meet other people. I know you, I introduce you to my friend, now you know my friend. That's social networking. A good example of social networking is how hair stylist get new customers. Often they are recommended by a friend. The same is true with babysitters, etc. The power of bringing this into an online environment is the speed. With a social networking site like Myspace you can instantly meet your friends friends. With TellGreenville.com this concept is scaled down to the Upstate Region. So you can meet people here that have common connections, interest, and live in the same area.

So I've been talking to my friend Chad. He gave me this idea about how great this site would actually be for organizing groups. We have a club feature here on TellGreenville.com, but I'm not sure if I have properly explained how powerful this feature is. Let me explain, clubs have the following features: - Club chat rooms
- Club forums
- club events
- Clubs can be public, moderated, or private. (Private clubs can not be seen by anyone not in the club)
- Club photos
This means that you can organize your small groups, small businesses, friends, or family. You can create you own group and tell everyone about parties or meetings using the internal forum. These features are great for churches, non-profits, poker games, or whatever.

Today is the official launch of TellGreenville.com. Today we started advertising on Google.com. Other advertisements are being set up for offline advertising. We are still debating the logo. I want people to feel like this is a family friendly site. Did we over do the lips? So make sure you tell everyone about this site and visit often. You never know who you might meet here.

Today I decided to open the Forum and Hot or Not rating sections. I did this so that visitors can view the topics that you feel are important. I opened the Hot or Not section to attract more visitors. Visitors will not be able to post or reply to either section without becoming a member first.
I'm debating whether or not to allow visitors to view the music and video sections.Tomorrow I will add polls.

OK I started adding some events that I found in newspapers and online. I think we have a good start here. You guys will have to add your own events for the future. Remember any event is welcome, and submission is free. So this post is about the features of this site. Features list: - Blogging
- Social Networking
- Classified ads
- Forum Discussions
- Chat Rooms
- Instant Messaging
- Hot or Not photo rating
- Club creation
- Music and video uploads
- Send eCards
Blogging - A frequent, chronological publication of personal thoughts and Web links. A blog is often a mixture of what is happening in a person's life and what is happening on the Web, a kind of hybrid diary/guide site, although there are as many unique types of blogs as there are people. People maintained blogs long before the term was coined, but the trend gained momentum with the introduction of automated published systems.. Social networking- A social network is a map of the relationships between individuals, indicating the ways in which they are connected through various social familiarities ranging from casual acquaintance to close familial bonds. Forum- Forums are the areas where individual discussions take place as a listing of topics. Chat room- A chat room is a virtual room where people can communicate in real time while on the Internet. Users type their messages with a keyboard and the entered text will appear on the monitor, along with the text of the other chat room visitors.
Instant Messaging- A type of communications service that enables you to create a private chat room with another individual. Typically, the instant messaging system alerts you whenever somebody on your private list is online. You can then initiate a chat session with that particular individual.

One of the things I love about Greenville and the surrounding areas, is that there are so many things to do. I believe there is an event every weekend, plus there are many attractions to see. The problem is I haven't found a place that consolidates all of the events and things to do and see. So that's why I am creating this site. Usually I here about events the day before or the day of that event. My goals for this site is to build with your help a calendar of every event happening in Greenville, Anderson, Pickens, and Spartanburg counties. In essence this site would be an online community that gives a small community feeling, even though we are growing into a large city. So if you have an event to post, no matter how small, then post it. It's free.

So this is the first blog to ever be on this site. I think it's fitting that I be the first person to post. I'm creating this first post to kind of explain what I am trying to create. You see, this site is an extension of who I am. It's an expression of my personality. I've only lived in Greenville for the last 2 and a half years, and I love it. I've been all over the world, except for Asia and Australia, and I haven't found a better place to live, grow, and raise a family. I really love the city, but I love the people too. You guys are the reason that I have settled here. So I would like to get to know as many of you as possible and at the same time, tell you about myself.
