Who ever knew that stacking blocks could be so fun. He is now able to stack 14 blocks in a row without them crashing. He likes to try to blow them down, like blowing out his candles on his birthday cake.

Today was a bit tough for everyone.Madelyn had her four month check up. We forgot to take a snack for Jayden or his sippy cup. Josie stayed with him in the waiting room while I had Mady Jane with the doc. She started crying immediately upon his examining her. I don't know if she didn't like her ears looked at or what. She would not stop crying for a pacy, nursing, diaper change or burping and rocking. He wasn't sure if we should do the shots today but I insisted that I wanted to get them over while I had Josie off work to assist with Jayden.
Jayden was having a difficult time in the lobby because we were in this appointment for one and a half hours.

So we got her four month shots and she screamed for 45 mins. until she fell asleep in the car. She would not nurse and therefore missed a feeding. Her length is now in the 75th %, weight in 65%, and head circumference is 63%.  The doctor is pleased with her growth but concerned with her screaming in pain while in his office. He looked at her axid dosage and determined that she is under the dosage for her weight. He more than doubled her dosage. From .75ml 2xday to 2 ml 2x day....He thinks that she will feel much better with this increase. I told him that I think she is already doing a lot better from our last visit, but yesterday she had some projectile vomitting again in early evening hours. Maybe her dose was too low and wearing off....We will see. I am so happy that he is looking out for her and that we don't have to wait to make changes on this med until sept when we go back to the GI specialist (who is the one who ordered this dosage.)

Well i must go and check on Madelyn as she is a little angel sleeping from all the trauma this morning. I hate to see her miserable like that....it makes me hurt for her.

It began with a call from Bank of America....a fraud alert automated call. Thank goodness for tighter security measures now. We had someone charging things to our account. Frustrating....but at least we caught it before the weekend. I am looking forward to going to our pool with the babes this weekend. We went to our friend's pool yesterday and had a blast. Jayden loved the water. He attempted to blow bubbles with his face in the water and enjoyed jumping from the edge of the pool with hands held. He loves his friend Sami. Well, today ended with a bang also as Mady projectile vomitted across her room two times. Bottle feedings are not going well. She gets so upset that when she goes to nurse she has so much air in her stomach that nothing will stay down. Needless to say, I am so loving a peaceful house at 10 pm. I work again in the front beds of our house today, laying down more mulch. This week I have planted new flowers, trimmed the shrubs and layed more mulch. It is finally starting to look better.....but still not as good as I would like. It is a work in progress. I am so happy to share the news that my cousin and his wife are heading home from the hospital today. Thanks for all those who have been praying. God is good.

What an awesome weekend. My friend Sandi called and surprised me with a visit. Her and her sister,  Marie came  to have dinner with us on friday and lunch with us on Saturday. We had a wonderful time. They were able to meet Jayden for the first time and boy did he eat that up. He loves to flirt with the ladies. Well, we also planned on going for a hike to a waterfall which in the South Carolina Waterfalls Hiking book stated the difficulty was moderate. We got to the trailhead and realized the book had lied. The kiosk read very strenuous. We decided to attempt the hike anyway. We had quite a hike to the top of 1.2 miles. The kiosk read that we climbed 1000 feet in that short distance which doesn't seem too bad if you are in shape, not pregnant and not carrying a 20 lb baby on your back. Josie worked really hard to get Jayden up the mountain and Karla was so gracious to assist with getting him to the waterfall and back down the mountain. We also realized that we packed too heavily. I had bottles diapers baby food and more. I was wishing that I would have left some behind since the hike was only 1 hour up and 1 hour down. We did hang out at the waterfall for about 45 minutes which got really cold because of the cool mist spraying off the falls. What a beautiful creation...God is so magnificent. This weekend we have been hanging out at home playing with Jayden. He is crawling after us now. He crawled the front hallway into the kitchen to come find mama for the first time today. Yesterday he had his first kiss, which he initiated. We were in the office upstairs doing some work. Jayden was playing beside the single bed which held many toys. He leaned into his pick up truck which had an armidillo stuffed animal in the back of it. He looked at it funny since he had never played with it before. Then he leaned in to give it a kiss on the mouth. It was soooo cute....then he smacked his lips again in the air. I told Josie and I think he was trying to turn it into a princess with a kiss. We wish we had the video camera on at the moment. It was the sweetest thing although Josie and I were a little jealous that he didn't kiss us first. Oh well...another day.

Friends and Family

I can finally share with you all, our exciting news.

Jayden is going to be a big brother.....Yeah

Many of you know but we could not blog about it due to the fact that we had not shared this information at our workplaces.

We are very happy to also let everyone know that we will be finding out the gender of the baby, if the baby wants us to know, on our 20 week ultrasound.

Right now we are seven weeks pregnant. I go in for my first ultrasound on August 15, 2007.

We are praying that God grants us peace, financial wisdom and resources to grow our family closer to Him. Thanks for all your prayers during this changing time.

PS Jayden did well with his ear tube surgery last week. He is now crawling, pulling to stand, fanning himself with our mail, using a pincer grasp with his right hand to feed himself fruit puffs, saying bye bye, and he hears noises that he could not hear before the surgery. Jayden is imitating a roar sound of a lion figurine.

Well, I have no excuse except...I have been enjoying my time with Josie and Jayden.

Jayden is doing well. He is now nine months old.....He is going to have ear tubes placed on July 27th. We are a little nervous about the surgery. We are praying for our physician as he uses his skilled hands on our son's ears. We are hoping that he drink better after the surgery...He has been having some problems with sucking due to pressure in his ears.

Jayden is now up on hands and knees, transitioning from belly to sitting and back again. He loves to sit in his crib and bounce on the mattress. He has been saying bye bye and waving when leaving us in the morning and when leaving daycare in the afternoon. He now has five teeth with a sixth one on the way. He is imitating kissing noises when Josie and I kiss at him.

Josie and I have been out salsa dancing several times in the past few months. We miss dancing and are so jealous of how much Karla has become addicted to dancing. We are very happy that you share our passion Karla...

Jayden said his first words this week. On Thursday, as we were leaving daycare to go home, he was prompted to say bye bye to his teachers as we usually do with a wave. Only this time, Jayden said bye bye with a wave of the arm. I was astonished. I thought that I was going to cry....it was so sweet to here it again as he grew more and more excited over the praises he recieved from the first bye bye......He then said it the next day at the mall when going to leave a store. You see, he was flirting with the cashier and she said bye bye and Jayden replied with another bye bye....

 This weekend is our 2nd anniversary....Wow two years have gone by in the blink of an eye.....I love being married to you honey.....Thank you for saying I do.....

We decided to buy a camcorder for our family on our anniversary....This way we can capture the memories of our family adventures. Maybe we can figure how to post the videos here. Hop you all enjoyed your weekend.

Tonight after work, Jayden and I went shopping for groceries. We were constantly interupted by women everywhere in the store. Everyone wanted to talk to Jayden. He just smiled and talked back to them. He is quite the ladies man.....

Jayden met his other grandparents this weekend in Elgin SC. We drove down on Saturday morning and came back Saturday night. It was our first trip out of town with him. He did well on the car ride down and back. He did not sleep well for his naps due to being off his schedule. He was a trooper with all the family members that passed him around and not to mention the crazy neighbor who dropped him on his head. Just kidding, she didn't really drop him on his head. She sat him on the floor and thought that he could hold his own. Next thing we know she backs away and Jayden flops to the floor with his head banging hard on the floor. Needless to say, Jayden was not happy and did not want to be held by her after that. Daddy rescued him from the neighbor and held him tight.

We got Jayden's Easter pictures back this weekend. They looked so cute. We tried to send some out but have to finish getting more in the mail.

Jayden tried apple juice mixed with water today. He is enjoying trying to drink out of a glass. Actually he tries to bite the cup instead. Josie thinks it looks like Jayden is trying to chew the juice instead of drinking it. It is very cute, but he looses most of it on his bib. We are trying to get more fluids in to help with his digestion of baby food.

Well I need to go so I will try to write soon. Hope you all had an adventurous weekend.

 The Wilder family had a great weekend. We finally made it off the couch. We are feeling better and are now over the bronchitis and yucky viruses. We went yardsaling on Saturday morning, made Easter eggs in the afternoon, got Easter pictures made on Saturday evening and then had a dinner out at City Range. I had crab cakes that were made from MD crabs....ummmm. We enjoyed church on Sunday morning and then went shopping for Mommy clothes....I was tired of looking frumpy ...so we purchases some new spring clothes for me. It was nice of Josie to hold Jayden while I modeled clothes for my two men to give me feedback.

I can't believe I am 30 years old. Yesterday was my birthday. I recieved a bouquet of flowers from Josie at work: yellow daisies and white callalilies. It was very sweet of him. When is go to Jayden's daycare, he was in a great mood. He was smiling and happy and seemed somewhat calmer.  When I got home from work, Josie was arranging several bouquets of flowers for me. Kristin, Matt and my parents had sent another bouquet of flowers and Josie had bought a potted callalily as well. Our house looked like a flower shop. It smelled so good. Josie made a wonderful dinner, with Chocolate cake from Strossners. I love it. For dinner we ate grilled and marinated Filet Minon, asparagus, and portabello mushrooms with a Pinot Noir wine. Dinner was delicious. We enjoyed a quiet evening together because Jayden was tired and went to bed a little early tonight.

Jayden was biting his spoon during dinner and his towel after bath time. I decided to peek in his mouth. I could not believe it, he had two front lower teeth!!! I was  so excited that I yelled for Josie to come upstairs and see this new development. Since then Jayden has been mouthing all his toys and his spoon. This evening we gave him Tylenol to ease the pain.

I went to the doctor today-finally have my own family practitioner. He thinks that the pain in my ribs is from inflamation in the cartilage. He wants me to take 800 mg Ibiprofen every eight hours and to not lift over 15 lbs for the next week. I reminded him that my son weights 15 lbs and 14 oz. He suggested that I really take it easy when possible so that the inflamation goes down. He poked and proded at my rib cage and sternum/chest. I can't believe how sore I feel even though I am not coughing any more. Hopefully with some rest this weekend, I will feel better by monday. I told him that it would be hard for me at work to adhere to lifting restrictions since I work with kids all day. But I am praying that this goes away soon because I would like to get back to exercising now that the weather is so warm again.

Well I hope you all have a great weekend. Thanks to the Dill family for the birthday card. I got it today. It may have been here yesterday but we didn't get the mail. Thanks to Josie's parents for the gifts for our family. Hopefully Jayden will tolerate the sunglasses when he gets a little older.

The weather has been unbelievably warm here in Greenville, SC. Maybe that is why we are still fighting these viruses. Jayden has had bronchiolitis for two weeks, prior to that he had an ear infection. I am just getting over bronchitis. I held onto it for over three weeks. It now turned into pleuritis (inflamation of lining of lungs). I have horrible pain in my rib cage. This has made work and carrying Jayden difficult. Josie has been helping more with night routines of bathing and carrying Jayden upstairs due to soreness. Jayden has finally started to feel better after a week on a nebulizer (bronchio dialater) for wheezing from the bronchiolitis.

Tonight, Josie and I had fun trying to exercise Jayden on his skill of rolling from his back to his belly. He still doesn't have this skill down completely. He is very independent with rolling from his belly to his back. He will do anything to get out of working hard in prone positions (belly). He is now able to prop sit for 10 seconds. It is so cute when he takes a nose dive from sitting into the bed or covers. We quickly rescue him and turn it into a fun roll. I still miss him so much when I am at work.

He is now enjoying rice cereal every evening. He has recently started to grab for the spoon when it comes toward his mouth. And every time the spoon leaves to head toward the bowl, he wimpers for more. It is so cute, but you really can't do anything else while you are feeding him. No multi-tasking on that job.....

Well, I am blogging one day prior to my 30th birthday. It's funny I don't really feel thirty. However, it feels weird to say I am going to be thirty tomorrow. I am enjoying life as it is. I think that I need to slow down and smell the roses more often. Josie and I have been so busy with life's routines now that Jayden is a big part of our adventures. But I love the evening and morning moments with him where I catch him in a big smile looking at his daddy or peeking at me right after his head pops through the hole of his shirt. He is so much fun.

Well thanks so much to all those friends and family keeping us in your prayers while we have been battling illnesses. Hopefully April will bring long walks (with Jayden in the stroller) in spring breezes, playtime with Jayden, Mommy, and Daddy outside on a blanket in the sun, and light hikes with Jayden in the back pack.  We will keep you updated as our health permits.

The 3 J's 

Wow, what a difference one hour makes. Last night we moved the clocks ahead an hour and I am really dragging. We missed church again this week because we have another bug. I am praying that I get to feeling better soon. I saw another urgent care doctor this week because I don't have a general practitioner. This time the doctor put me on an antibiotic. He said I have bronchitis and it may progress to pneumonia if I don't treat it quickly. I am so tired of our house being sick. Josie had the flu for a week, then Jayden had a stomach virus last weekend and since then I have been holding on to a sinus infection that turned into bronchitis. Lovely....

Jayden is doing well this week. He had his shots last friday. They said he is 27 inches long which places him in the 98th percentile, his head was 18 inches which places him in the 99th percentile and he weighs just under 15 lb. which places him in the 40th percentile. I can't seem to keep him in clothes due to his length.

He is wanting to sit up more and more. He is beginning to grab his feet. The other day he pulled his sock off his foot. He is now tolerating rice cereal. We feed him 1-3 Tbsp mixed with mommy's milk every evening at dinner time. He is such a big boy sitting and eating in his bumbo chair. He gets about every third spoonful to actually stay in the mouth. It is so cute watching him learn to use his tongue to swallow instead of sucking.

Well I need to go check on the handsome boy, gotta go. Hope you all had a great weekend.

Karla, thanks for the update on your blog site. I am so happy you had a wonderful trip to Belize. You deserved it!!!

Jayden rolled from his belly to his back this weekend. He also is sitting up in his Bumbo chair for about 30-45 minutes without tiring. We had a good weekend relaxing with Jayden. We played and cuddled throughout the weekend. Jayden is interacting more and more. He tries to get our attention now if we are not paying him attention.

Every day is so exciting with Jayden. He is beginning to bear weight on his legs when placed in supported standing. He loves to smile in the mirror at that cute baby boy looking back at him. We practiced standing on the dresser while he looks in the mirror at himself. Jayden went to sleep within two minutes of placing him in his crib tonight. I snuck back in the room to watch him fall asleep. It was so cute, he has a habit of sucking in left index finger while grabbing his soft blanket and bringing it to his face for cuddling. He is so sweet to watch while drifting off to sleep. Tonight when I went to clip his nails he was able to grab for the clippers and tried to pull them out of my hand. His fine motor skills are rapidly increasing. Here are some added pictures from this morning before daycare with his hat on sitting in the Bumbo chair. I can't believe how fast time is flying by. Jayden is already four months old. 

This weekend Josie and I had a couple over for dinner. We made Pad Thai and our friends brought key lime pie. It was a great dinner. On Saturday we attended our friends party for their daughter Emily. Emily turned four years old this week. She had a princess birthday party. There was so much food, drinks, cake and balloons everywhere. It was beautiful.

Jayden had his four month old pictures taken today after church. He was a bit worn out due to the lack of a quality nap during church. He was so cute in his Pooh outfit with his classic Pooh from his Uncle Matt and Aunt Kristin. Jayden presents with a new skill almost everyday. He loves to blow raspberries/bubbles out of his mouth. He is now able to shake a rattle in a 90 degree arc with his right hand. He holds his head and chest up when propping on his forearms. He is growing like a weed. Josie and I can't keep up with his growth as far as keeping the right size of clothes nearby. He is now in 9-12 month old clothes. That's right even though he is only four months old.

We sat next to a family at JC Pennys waiting to have Jayden's pictures taken. Their son was dressed in his Harley outfit and was born five days prior to Jayden. They said he is wearing 0-3 mth clothes and only weighs 12 lbs. They could not believe how big Jayden looked compaired to their son.

Jayden was seen by the doctor on friday for a consistent runny nose. The doctor said that it was probably just from the daycare and that we should find a sweet old lady to watch him at home instead of using daycare. I said easier said then done. He now weighs 15 lbs. We couldn't believe it. We took him to our friends house (Melissa and Mark) and to Steve and Nicole's house for Super Bowl Sunday. He did great with napping at our friends houses. He talked himself to sleep on their bed both times and did not cry at all. We were so happy at how well he adjusts to new surroundings. My firend Melissa and I used to work together. Melissa (Speech therapist) and I got Jayden on the therapy ball in prone and worked on head control with some linear movement. He loved the therapy ball.

Josie and I weren't feeling well enough to make it to church today. We have some kind of upper respiratory virus. Jayden has had a great weekend though. Some how, God blesses us with an extremely happy baby everytime Josie and I are feeling ill. Jayden is having a great time playing with a toy from our friends Reese and Christina. It is a crinkle toy/book with animal. It has rings, rattles, and crinkle noises on it. Jayden is now able to grasp the rings and bring them to his mouth to explore. When laying on the play mat, he brings his knees up to his tummy and he has begun to roll onto his left side. He mouths his fingers alot, often keeping his index finger in his mouth while he bites down with his gums. A lady in Target thought he was already teething. I told her it was a little too soon for that. His favorite noise to make is gggg and geeee. He loves to imitate the g sounds with mommy. He now is propping on his forearms when laying on his belly and holding his head and chest up for about 4-5 minutes if entertained. We are having a blast watching him learn new things. Josie and I have had an awesome weekend. We had Jayden dedicated today at church. He did great. We also had a date night last night. Josie and I had dinner at the O Restraurant. Josie had duck and I had lobster. It was very chilly outside, so we came home right after dinner. The service was very slow at the restraurant so we didn't get home until almost 10 pm. It was nice to have conversation over a delicious meal that we didn't have to prepare. Karla babysat Jayden for us and stayed for the weekend to go to Jayden's baby dedication with us. I also was lucky to get a chance to do some shopping with her. On Saturday, Karla and I were able to go to a salon. I got a haircut and she had her nails done. On Sunday, Jayden had his pictures taken at JC Penneys. He was so good for the photographer (it also helped that Karla was in the background entertaining us all) as we tried to get Jayden to smile for the camera. Karla and I also made meals at Supper Thyme USA. This is a place where you can make several meals for your freezer in a couple of hours. I now have 10 meals prepared in the freezer which really makes life easier with a baby and a fulltime job.  

Josie and I had some good time playing with Jayden this weekend. He is really getting stronger. He is able to hold his head in pull to sit. He enjoys bouncing on your knee or on the bed in supported sitting. He can now prop on his forearms, holding his head upright when laying on his tummy. He grasps his hands and holds them together. His favorite thing to do is grab things and bring them to his mouth. I love watching him suck his fists to fall asleep.

We are having so much fun being parents.

Jayden had a rough day at daycare yesterday. His little tummy was upset and he continues with a rash and runny nose. He had a fussy evening and woke up at 4 am crying. This is abnormal for him. He has been sleeping through the night. I am sure that all this is from starting daycare, but I hope his immune system is strong enough to recover quickly from these nasty germs. I am looking forward to another weekend with him.

Josie and I are having a date night this weekend. We are going out to the Restraurant O downtown Greenville. Also on Sunday Jayden will have his baby dedication ceremony after the service. I am looking forward to Sunday. Aunt Karla will attend and will be with us for the weekend. We are going on Saturday to make meals at Supper Thyme.

We are having so much fun with Jayden. He is so interactive. He loves to smile, grab your clothes and try to mouth your hands, arms, or face...whatever is closest. We take it as he is trying to return kisses. We had a great weekend filled with plenty of playtime with Jayden. We tried out a new outfit from my friend Jill.....loved the hat girl....Of course mommy took pics as soon as we got home from church. Hope you all enjoy them on kodakgallery. Here is a link.

Josie and I got to play tennis for a short bit until Jayden was tired of hearing the kids playing next to us on the playground. He usually naps in his stroller while we play, but it was a little too noisy. I can't believe how sore my muscles are from two days of exercise. I am hoping to get back in shape soon....slowly working on it. Hope all is well with you guys....check out the pics.

Josie and I had such a week. Last weekend we suffered from food poisoning. Yes, my husband was cooking....hehehe....I love you honey. We were severely sick on saturday night and sunday. My wonderful sister, Karla came down from North Carolina to help us with cleaning, caring and playing with Jayden and bringing us some food. We ate jello, applesauce and chicken noodle soup for days.

Jayden has now finished his second week at daycare. He is adjusting well. He is still sleeping through the night and eating very well. He had his first runny nose this week. Jayden is learning this week to fall asleep more often without crying at all. He likes to suck his fists to fall asleep. It is so cute. He is enjoying a toy cell phone from some coworkers of Josie's. He will lay on his tummy and pick up his head to look at the red flashing buttons while it makes different ring tones. We have been working on pull to sit, grasping and tummy time. He appears to be gaining more and more head control every day. Jayden enjoys grasping his blankets and can pull them up when laying in bed. He is holding onto my shirt and hair with a tight grasp. He also holds a rattle but easily drops it when he begins to move his arms. Jayden has begun looking and watching his hands move. He studies our faces as we make new sounds or imitate his noises. He also loves the TV, which scares mommy and daddy. We don't want a tv junky, but he is so funny to watch when the tv is on. Even if you get in his way, he attempts to move his head to see past you. It is amazing how young minds get sucked into the television. He also has really enjoyed his books from Aunt Karla (Christmas gifts). The books have an auditory component. When you push the button with the story, a frog or duck ribbets or quacks. Jayden is so attentive to these stories.

We are excited to have warmer weather this weekend. Josie and I are planning on playing tennis tomorrow after taking a walk in the neighborhood. Hope you all have a great weekend.

This week was a tough one for Jayden. Not only did he start daycare for the first time. He also had his two month shots. Josie went to the appointment with him and had to hold him down while they gave the shots. Owww....I don't think I could have done that. Thank God for strong daddies. Jayden was very irritable for two days after the shots. He had a low grade fever, upset tummy and sore thighs. I am very happy that Josie could stay home with him on friday. He was able to catch up on much needed rest. At the daycare he does not get good naps due to all the noise and and upset schedule. I am hoping next week goes better there.

After the shots, daddy held Jayden to calm him. Jayden wanted cheek to cheek cuddle time and enjoyed the blue soft doggy that plays a lullabye. Jayden used his hands to pull the toy to his mouth and immediately stopped crying. We are so excited to see him learning to use his hands more and more. Yesterday, I played with him using rattles. He was able to hold the rattles and move his arms for several seconds before dropping the rattles. He also is able to hold rings from his dinosaur toy when pulling the crinkle toy to his face.

Today, I organized Jayden's closet and drawers of clothes. Jayden is now wearing 3-6 mth clothes, so I had to store away the smaller 0-3 mth outfits. I can't believe how fast he is growing. At the doctors appointment this week, the doctor could not believe how fast he has grown. In a little over one month, Jayden grew four inches. He is now 25 inches long, which places him in the 93rd percentile. He is 12 lb. and 13 oz which is in the 57th percentile.

Well I need to run and get some coffee. Jayden had me up at 5:30 this morning for a feeding. I got a short nap at 7 am to 8:30 but I need some java.  

Today was Jayden's first day at daycare. I think his mommy had more of a difficult time than he did. He had a little trouble taking his bottle in the morning but he did drink three bottles. What  a good boy!! Mommy and daddy are so proud of him. He also had three naps and played on the floor with an activity play mat. We were also happy to find out the Jayden is in the same daycare as a friend of ours at church. Yeah, he has a friend to watch over him while he plays, eats and sleeps.

I have to admit it was a rough day without him. When we got home, I just held him in my arms for an hour. He slept so peacefully. Then he took a bath and went to sleep. I can't wait till the weekend so I can play with him again.

Yes, I am blogging twice today. I forgot to add this to my last post.

This weekend Jayden began grasping.....As a child I grew up up in the same church as my Grandma Esther....Every Sunday morning as a toddler I would find her in the pews in front of us and ask her for some candy. My grandmother always had packs of Smarties in her purse. This weekend I was having some left over Halloween candy "Smarties"---Yes, we still have Halloween candy in our house, I bought a little too much this year. After finishing the candy, I held the wrapper in front of Jayden while he was laying on the couch. I crinkled the wrapper to provide some sensory play for him. He began batting his arm towards it and to my amazement he opened his fist and grasped the candy wrapper from my fingers. He held it for a few seconds while waving his arm through the air, then dropped it next to him. We continue to do this four more times to see if his aim was really controlled. Each time he visually fixated on the wrapper and went for it with his fist. I think he may be a Smartie too......or maybe just like Smarties like his mommy.

He also is beginning to grasp onto our fingers when we place them out for him to hold. Today we worked on pull to sit. He giggles when being pulled from lying on his back into the sitting positon. His eyes are wided open as he gazes around to view the differences in his visual field from lying down vs. sitting. How awesome it is to see how much joy and confidence he has in completing this new developmental milestone. He is so cute to see his little head occasionally still bobble back and forth (we call him bobble head) as he works his neck muscles for increase head and trunk control.

Last night we brought in the New Year with Karla (up until 10 pm) and our neighbors/friends- Dan and Nicolette. We had a good time playing games, enjoying wine, and watching Josie's warm fire that he built in our fireplace. We watch the count down on TV and listened to our other neighbors firework show while Jayden slept peacefully through it all in his crib.

2007...Suddenly.....The prophetic message at church yesterday from Ron Carpenter was that blessings will happen suddenly in 2007....Many blessings, one right after another. I am so happy to embrace another year with my wonderful husband by my side. We are so blessed to have Jayden joining our family this year.

2006 reflects a year of great harvest in the Wilder family. God provided us with some amazing adventures. We were able to buy our first home, Josie was able to transition into a new job which met his career objectivies, we were able to get pregnant (an answer to our prayers and God's way of demonstrating his divine intervention), have 2 awesome baby showers with friends and family who were so giving, meet our beautiful baby boy-Jayden, develop an awesome friendship with our neighbors, have family here to help us during the delivery and coming home with our baby, share in memories throughout the holidays in South Carolina (a first for the Martin family to celebrate a southern Christmas). We also feel so blessed this year to have so many of our friends and family praying for us as we enter into a new journey of parenthood.

It is so exciting every day to see how wonderful God is. His beauty surrounds us in all we do. I love how He shows His love for us in the joy that Jayden brings to our daily routines. I am so excited for each new day that I am able to watch Jayden grow and develop. We are learning in the book Night Light for parents that it is our greatest task to teach Jayden about Christ's love and to demonstrate His love to others around us. 

Today marks the first day of a new year....2007. We are anticipating what God has in store for us this year. Suddenly!!! That is the exciting prophetic word....May God suddenly bless you with a bountiful harvest...meeting not only your needs but your innermost desires of the heart....For He knows all of our thoughts before we know them. If I may copy a section of Maria's inspiring blog from last night. She quoted Psalm 139 which has brought me so much hope for a new year....

 "Psalm 139 has been my chapter this year.  I pray it is as hopeful to you as it has been to me."

139:1 O Lord, you have searched me and known me! 2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. 3 You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. 4 Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. 5 You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.

Tomorrow is my first day back to work and Jayden's first day in daycare. I am praying for strength to make it through a full day of work without too many tears from missing Jayden. Wishing all of you many blessings for a fruitful and prosperous New Year. We love you all. Thanks for the prayers and support in 2006 and 2007.

Today I spent some great quality time with my son. I love talking to him. He loves to coo and make his voice go up and down. He is beginning to really imitate my voice intonations. We played for several hours today just cooing, kissing and loving on one another. I am sending a link to pictures of Jayden and my family. What a day! We celebrated Christmas with my family throughout the whole weekend. But our official opening of gifts happened on Saturday morning after Jayden's first nap. We were so proud of how well Jayden did on his sleep schedule even with a full house. Jayden slept 8 hours on two nights and between 6-7 on the other nights. He is so happy after sleeping through the night. We thank God for a wonderful son who is able to have so much joy. He was not able to open many gifts but he did like when the tissue paper was waved around for him to look towards a camera. He really enjoyed the play mat that Josie and I got him for a Christmas gift. The first time we tried it he cried when placed under the dangling toys, but the next time he quickly began kicking and throwing his little arms and legs toward the toys. He is really focusing on more items. This weekend during a bottle feeding by daddy, Jayden used an open hand around the bottle to assist in holding it. He is now eating around 4 oz. per feeding. He plays really hard during his wake times. Today while Josie and I ate left over shrimp for our lunch we sat Jayden in front of the Baby Einstein movie again. This was his second time watching the movie. He is so intrigued by the colors, movement and music. Josie and I couldn't keep our eyes off of his face and squealing vocalizations while he batted his hands/arms toward the TV in excitement.

Josie and I had a blessed Christmas with special memories with my family, good food, wonderful gifts and a great message at Redemption World Outreach Center.

Josie and I both feel that our favorite gift this year is watching Jayden grow and develop new skills. He is interactiing more and more each day. It is so awesome to wake up to his smile and have a conversation with him in the early morning hours.

Josie's second favorite gift is his new PS2 with Guitar Heroes. He loves rockin to the songs with his guitar. I have been working on adding songs to my mp3 player that Josie got me for Christmas (Rio Carbon5).

This week has been so much fun. Jayden's Grandma from PA has been down for a visit for a week now. His grandpa, aunt Kristin and uncle Matt are all here for this Christmas weekend. They all flew into town yesterday. Jayden has been loving time with Grandma Diane as she sings to him (Jesus Loves Me, Jesus Loves the Little Children and a variety of children's songs). Yesterday, in a car ride back from my dentist appointment, Mom was trying to keep Jayden awake during his play time. She sang songs and held toys for him to look at while he grinned from one ear to the next. He really seemed to be recognizing the songs the she sung while touching his face  soft dog toy (a gift from aunt Teri and uncle Larrian). He loves this toy that plays a lullabye after you pull the doggies tail. What a lesson to teach a child. Pull the doggie's tail to hear a response. hehehe.

Jayden is making more and more sounds. He is doing so well with his schedule. Last night he slept eight and a half hours in between feedings. I fed him at 10:30 pm and then he didn't wake for feeding until daddy woke mommy and baby at 7 am for a morning feeding. Josie and I were so proud of him for doing so well with the sleep wake and eat cycles. We are so happy that we followed the Baby Wise book. Anyone having a baby really should read this book. It was difficult to follow at the beginning but the results of a happy baby who sleeps through the night is well worth the hard work.

Well soon we will update you with more pics. But I will wait until we celebrate our Christmas on saturday with the Martin family.

Thanks to all our friends and family who sent Christmas cards. We appreciate the beautiful cards and family pictures. We have the cards hanging in the front foyer and dining room.

Well, first to update you on the weekend. Josie and I had a wonderful evening out at his Christmas party. We danced the night away in our dance shoes. My feet were so sore at the end of the night that Josie had to bring the car up to the door to pick me up. It was so invigorating to dance with him again. I miss dancing weekly with my dance partner. Thanks sweetheart for an evening to remember. Jayden did well with his aunt Karla, the best babysitter in the world. I was able to relax and enjoy the evening knowing that he was safe at home with her.

I am looking forward to my mom's flight getting in today. Her flight is a little late today, probably due to the fog. Karla is coming down also today from North Carolina. We will get ready for the holidays by making cookies today.

Jayden has really found his voice this week. He is making so many new sounds. I love hearing him talk and sing to me. Even his cries are cuter and more attention calling to mommy and daddy. I am loving everyday with him more and more.

Today I was able to go out of the house and have some time pampering myself with a pedicure/manicure so that I feel good for an evening out on the town. Josie and I are going to a Christmas party tonight. Aunt Karla will stay with Jayden for the first evening out away from him. I am hoping that I can relax, have fun and not worry about how Jayden is doing. I am sure that I will miss him dearly though. He is cooing more and more. Daddy was off work today and was amazed at how many new sounds Jayden is making while he is talking to us. He is definately a morning baby like his mommy. He talks the most at 7 till 10 in the morning. Jayden has been going through a growth spurt so he eats every three to four hours at night. Jayden is now beginning to play with his hands more and more. I am noticing that he is able to pull his thumb out from his palm to grasp things now. He held his pacifier yesterday while I tried to get him to suck on it. He only uses the pacifier if he is half asleep. He doesn't like the feel of it in his mouth. He often spits it back at me if I put it in his mouth. He is so cute with his facial expressions when he doesn't want it in his mouth. I have been going through a rough time with insurance issues, emotional issues, and not wanting to return to work. I love being home with Jayden. We are praying that all will be resolved soon. Jayden will meet great grandma and great aunt this saturday. They are coming from Maryland/PA via Florida. I am excited for them to meet him. Well I need to go and feed Jayden again. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Josie and I are so excited to learn the Mambo tonight after the Christmas Party. It will be his first time wearing his new dance shoes (his birthday gift). Hopefully we have not forgot all of our moves since the pregnancy. Then tomorrow we will celebrate Josie's birthday ....Yeah. Happy Birthday Love...I am so excited to spend another year with you. You are a great husband and daddy.

This weekend was wonderful. Jayden is doing so well. We are so proud of how he is adjusting to routines and sleep/eat schedules. He is now sleeping five and a half hours at one time in the night. He is taking a bottle a little better from dad and Karla came over today to bottle feed him and bath him. She is learning his routine for this friday so Josie and I can have a date night. We will be going to Josie's work Christmas party. We shopped for dancing shoes for Josie's birthday gift. He will be 29 next weekend. Yeah, he is finally my age (for a couple of months).

Tonight I made Pad Thai for the first time in about one year. I didn't make it much while I was pregnant. Hopefully, Jayden doesn't mind the spices. It was so yummy. Karla and Josie enjoyed the meal too. I got to use Kristin's Christmas gift to me from last year (Asian placements with chopsticks).

Stephan Aube came for a visit on friday. He is a dear friend of ours from France. Him and his wife (Cecile) used to live here and dance with us. We met them at swing dancing. He was back in the US on business. It was great to see him. He brought a gift for Jayden which his wife embroidered and made (hooded towel with Jaydens initials). He also brought us some chocolates from France. Ummmm....I love chocolate. It was so nice to catch up with him and see him with Jayden in his arms. We love Stephan's sense of humor.

I had a great weekend over thanksgiving. Josie and I had a turkey cookoff. He smoked a turkey outside in the smoker while I cooked one in the oven. We were challenging each other about the taste and the timing of when would could eat. I thought for sure mine would be finished way before his until I realize that I didn't turn the oven on after two hours of the cook time. I set the timer on the oven and assumed that I was good to go. However, the timer was setting the oven to turn on in three hours not to be finished in three hours. Anyway, mine was finished first but it was two hours behind scheduled dinner time. Josie's definately tasted the best with this carmalized pineapple topping.

Josie parents grandmother and two aunts came to visit this weekend. It was fun to see them all loving on Jayden. Jayden just ate up the attention. He is now starting to social smile in the past week. I love kissing his cheeks and making him grin from ear to ear. He is a morning baby with lots of smiling moments between 7 am and noon. He also has began to hold his head upright for longer periods of time while in our arms or during belly time. His favorite things to look at are faces, a picture of a couple dancing in our living room, the fish aquarium, his play mirror, and a string of beads on his wall that holds several pictures of him. He just started to look at the TV during a football game on Thanksgiving day. Jayden is more and more alert and aware of people and objects around him. He now is beginning to grasp things like our fingers, my hair, our shirts while playing and cooing. I also have noticed that he is expanding his repretoire of sounds that he makes. I love listening to him coo himself to sleep. He continues to get very upset with any sort of wet diaper. So we are going through ~15-20 diapers a day. Ouch on the wallet!

Jayden is now tolerating a new kind of bottle which his mother bought for us over the weekend. Josie has to walk with Jayden in his arms while feeding him in order for him to accept the bottle.

Last night Josie and I went to the tennis courts here to play a game with our friends/neighbors: Dan and Nicolette. We took Jayden in the stroller (all bundled up). He slept while we played. It felt so good to get some good exercise while being able to get back to a game that I love.

We also put up a seven foot Christmas tree this weekend. Jayden loves the lights on it. I enjoyed decorating it while listening to Christmas music. Jayden went to the lot with us to pick out the tree.

I saw the MD today for my final visit after surgery. He cleared me for all activities. So I guess I will be playing more tennis and trying to get as much exercise in as possible to get rid of the baby pounds. I have been able to enjoy many nice walks during these 68 degree days. Jayden loves the outdoors. He sleeps through most of my walks.

I can't believe that Jayden is a  month old today. It seems like we just met him, but at the same time, counting all the cycles of feeding and diaper changes and sleep times seems a bit longer than a month. We really have enjoyed every second of the journey with him. I am so proud of how well Josie is doing with being a daddy. My favorite moment of the day was seeing Jayden smile at daddy while he was playing with him on the couch today.

We woke up with much better rest today because Jayden was able to make it through four hours in between feedings, two times through the night. This meant I was only up one time through the night to feed him. He eats at 10 or 11 pm and then not until 2 or 3 am and then he eats again at 6 or 7 am. Then the hard thing is keeping him awake after this early morning feeding. That means we have to stay awake after the 6 oclock feeding, to keep him on his eat, wake sleep schedule. This is what helps him to sleep through the night quicker. We attended church today which was so awesome. And then after church we took Jayden out for lunch at Longhorns Steakhouse. He loved it....he slept through the whole meal. After that we took him shopping for some mommy clothes. He did well until he filled his diaper and daddy had to change him in the restroom with only one wipe left after the diaper changes earlier. We made it home and felt as though we had a successful outing with Jayden today.

Jayden continues to get stronger and stronger every day. He is holding his head up so well now. Also he is focusing more and more on objects. One of his favorite things to look at is a picture of dancers by Vettriano in our living room. Our friends Reese and Christina gave it to us for a wedding gift. He loves the contrasting colors in it and just stares for long periods of time at it. His second favorite thing to look at is the poles in our canopy bed. He lays in the morning in our laps and just fixates on the overhead pillars. Well I need to go and relax for a bit before the next feeding time. Have a great day.

It was a bit breezy today but I enjoyed getting out with my friend Nicolette to go for a walk through our neighborhood. Jayden sleeps so peacefully while we walk. Yesterday we had a busy day shopping for Thanksgiving turkey and groceries. But before shopping for turkey day, Jayden made his first appearance at Fluor. Yes, Jayden went to see daddy at work. The women at the office gawked over his hair, cute face (looking like daddy they all say), and his wide eyed alert disposition. I think Josie enjoyed showing him off and it was nice to finally meet all the co-workers that I hear Josie talk about each day. They are a great group of people.

Sorry that we send so many at once. It is easier to get them all downloaded at one time. I love the pics of Jayden in a red shirt with animals on the front where he is falling asleep with a grin on his face- no actually it is a huge smile. He is so cute when he drifts off to sleep. Anyway, we are trying to capture all the many faces that he makes in a short period of time. I am enjoying every minute at home with him. I just dread returning to work and leaving him in a daycare all day. I look forward to the holidays where Jayden will get to spend some time with his grandparents. Josie mother, father and grandmother (Brenda and Ray, Helen) are coming for Thanksgiving and my mother and father will be with us during Christmas.

I am so excited to put up a Christmas tree this year. We missed having a tree last year because one wouldn't fit in the small apartment Josie and I were living in at the time. I am sure Jayden will love to look at the lights. He enjoys looking at bright lights and contrasting colors.

Highlight of my day, 2 nights ago (Tuesday night-Nov. 15, 2007), was his first intentional smile. What I mean by this, is he was not sleeping during the smile. Since then he has smiled at several different things during play time. But that night at about 4 am, he looked up at his wall during nursing to gaze at a new decoration that I had placed on the wall. It was a string of brightly colored beads with clamps to hold photos. I think he liked the contrast of the colors against the light green walls. He fixated on this string of beads for several minutes before wanting to complete his feeding. I was so sleepy but in awe of what makes him smile so big. Those moments in the middle of the night when it is so quiet and peaceful are such a blessing from God to share with my son, Jayden. I love him so much.

I had a great morning and afternoon with Jayden. He was in a great mood and was easily engaged in sensory play with his toys. He has improved in his head and neck control. While laying in bed with him on my chest, he is able to hold his head upright for at least 10 seconds before flopping to my chest again. We had a great night last night. He made it 5 hours and then 2 1/2 and then four hours between his nighttime feedings. This is much better than eating every two and a half to three hours. I think we are seeing results from following the Baby Wise book. Jayden is beginning to get onto a daytime nap and play routine. He also loves his bath time where he is calmed before he is tucked into bed for night.

I was able to watch Oprah at the end of the day today. It was really interesting to see a woman speaking on baby cries. She says that baby's have a language and if you are able to learn how to interpret the sounds then you can tell what they need. I really enjoyed this episode and am interested in getting this womans DVD.

FYI: I weighed Jayden with me on the scales at home today and then weighed myself. He is now 9 and a half lbs. I can't believe how fast he is growing. He has now outgrown two sleepers because his legs are too long for them. I am excited.....I hope he has Josie's genes for his height.

Today I was able to get out of the house independently. I thought that it would feel great to be independently again. However, I missed Jayden so much when I was away for two hours from him. He was playing at home with daddy and then napping. I was able to get a few errands run. While out I looked for Christmas ideas for Jayden at Target. I can't wait to be able to buy him his first Christmas gift. We played with his new sensory blocks today. Nicole and Steve brought us this gift for Jayden when they brought us dinner on Thursday night. Jayden enjoys these blocks because they have a lot of black and white shapes and stripes on them. We are currently reading a book called Baby Wise. This book is helping us with techniques on nursing, sleeping and waketime schedules. Kristin bought us the book but it was also highly recommended by many friends.

Yesterday, we had a little mishap at home. I guess Josie doesn't know how powerful his kisses are yet. He blogs that I broke the new laptop computer that we bought for our home. However, what he didn't tell you was how I broke it. I went to give Josie and kiss while he was working on the laptop. While enjoying the kiss, Josie placed the laptop on the floor below the couch. I did not notice where the computer was being placed while my husband greeted me with a sweet kiss. Unfortunately, after the sweet kiss, I stepped back onto the touch pad of the keyboard. I ruined the hard drive. At this moment, Jayden began crying and needed a feeding and diaper change. After Josie realized I had damaged the hard drive, I knew it was time to take an afternoon stroll. Jayden and I went for a mile walk with the stroller while Josie called the computer customer service to order a new hard drive. What a bummer! since the computer was only five days old.

Well I need to run and get ready for bed. Hope you all have a great weekend.  

Today I am finally feeling a bit better. I have been trying to recoup from a sore throat where I began loosing my voice. Today was so warm and beautiful out, that I decided to take Jayden for a walk in his stroller. He slept through the whole walk but at least mommy and baby were able to get some fresh air. He is such a blessing to us. We are learning about schedules and his routines.. attempting to make the evening bedtime a little smoother. He doesn't like to go down at night. Josie has been wonderful with trying all sorts of tricks to calm Jayden when he is crying. We are reading Baby Wise, a book that my thoughtful sister, Kristin bought for us. It is very helpful and interesting reading for parents or soon to be parents. I had some wonderful mommy and Jayden play time this morning after his 9:30 feeding. He was so bright eyed and smiley. We read books and played with soft caterpillar rattles. He loved visually fixating on the rattles as I moved them above his head. Well I need to run for another diaper change. PS he now weighs 9 lbs and 2 oz. on monday of this week. He continues to amaze us with his growth and good looks.

Today was my doctor's appointment out in Easley, SC. Everything looks good. MD says my incision is healing well. Praise the Lord. He has cleared me to drive and to begin slow exercising. Jayden did really well on the car ride out to Easley. He slept on the way to the appointment and on the way home.

We recieved the professional pictures from Jana Candler today. They brought tears to my eyes. I was so happy with how well he photographed. Jana is a wonderful photographer. Here is a link to the website with all the pictures of Jayden.

Happy Halloween! We just finished handy out candy to the whole neighborhood. We had a lot of cute kids in costumes. My favorite was the pirate....We still have plenty of candy left over for munching on. But it was time to put Jayden down and Josie and I are trying to get him on a good schedule at night. Jayden has been the apple of our eye recently. I love my cuddle time with him during the day. He is so much like Josie and I. He loves to snuggle and be held all the time. I am definately at fault for spoiling him. But who could help it, he is so sweet.

I enjoyed having Jana Candler over today. She was the photographer at our wedding. She also took maternity pictures and today she photographed Jayden here in our home. She will post the pictures on Thursday, hopefully and I will set up a link on this site for you all to see them. He didn't particularly enjoy the photo shoot. I think the sound of the bean bag moving under him was a little overwhelming plus he was hungry and ready for mommy time. We highly recommend Jana Candler Photography for anyone looking for a photographer for weddings and family pictures. We love her personality and style of photography.

Today was our first day without the help of family. Kristin and Matt, (my sister and brother in law) left last night for Louisiana. And Karla is now back in NC working this week. We miss the family in the home, but it was nice to have our Wilder family time together. Josie goes back to work in the office tomorrow. I am a bit nervous to handle all the baby and household duties by myself, but I am sure that God will be with me. I am feeling much better physically. Well I will write and post pictures again soon hopefully.

We have not blogged in a couple of days because the computer hard drive crashed on Josie's computer. Now it is up and running once his work installed a new hard drive.

Today was Jayden's first pediatrician's appointment. He weighs 8 lbs and 8 oz., which is excellent per the doctor. He has gained 4 oz. in one week. He is now eight days old. It was our first trip out of the house to an appointment. We did very well with getting out of the house on time, although I must say it pays to pack the diaper bag the night before. This morning it was pouring rain as we bustled in and out of the doctor's office. Jayden has been eating and sleeping a lot. I love the moments when he is alert and bright eyed. We enjoy cuddle time in the moments in between sleeping cycles. He has brought us such joy in our lives. Josie and I are enjoying being new parents and treasure every minute with Jayden.

Thank you for all your prayers and support. The Wilder family is finally home and settling in after a five day stay at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley Hospital. It was great having such wonderful care in the hospital. The nurses were so caring and had such a gift of patience, kindness and gentleness to them. I am also so extremely blessed to have the world's greatest husband, Josie as a best friend and partner through labor, surgery, and recovery. He is already the best father to little Jayden. Jayden is so in love with him. It is so neat to sit and watch Jayden respond to Josie's voice and tender kisses. Also Karla, my sister, has been a great help through the birth of Jayden to the arrival and settling in at home. She has the gift of hospitality even in my home. She has been there to aid in caring for Jayden, caring for me, and assisting Josie with all the errands and tasks around the home. Today, I was so happy to get to sit down to an awesome breakfast of waffles, fresh strawberries and apples and yogurt -made by Karla. Thank you sis for taking such good care of our family.

Jayden is doing great.. He is the perfect baby. We feel like we have been highly favored by God for sending us a son who is so beautiful in so many ways. He is truly a joy to take care of and love. Jayden is doing well, feeding every 2-3 hours. Josie and I are able to get good rest in between feedings.

As I am blogging, I just recieved a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a CHOCOLATE cake from Mom and Dad. They came from Strossners Bakery and florist which is our favorite florist and bakery in greenville. thanks Mom and Dad-Our prayers are with you in your recovery mom from hip surgery. I am so proud of how hard you are working with your PT exercises and stretches. Keep it up, soon you will be able to come see this gift of God awaiting you. We love you both.

Josie: I'm filling in for Janelle, because she doesn't feel up to blogging right now. She wants to, but her body won't let her. I'm posting a picture of her and Jayden. There will be many more to come.  His name is Jayden Isaiah. He is 8lbs and 4oz and 20.5in long.

Today is the day after my due date. This is also my brother's birthday. I am hoping that we get to meet our baby soon. Yesterday the Doctor saids that I am 1 cm. dialated. Hopefully, tommorrows appointment will show more progress. In the morning, we go back to the doctor for an ultrasound to check the growth of the baby, a non stress test to make sure the baby is doing okay, and then we will see the doctor again. Thanks to all the family and friends who have been praying for our family. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers. We will let you know as soon as we know when this baby decides to meet us.
